The cookies we use.
We keep cookies to a minimum. The site works without any optional cookies, and analytics only run if you say yes.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work. Others, like analytics cookies, are optional, and under UK law we must ask before using them.
Cookies that are always on
These are needed for the site to work or to keep it secure, so they don't need your consent.
- hl_consent, set by Hiconlab. Remembers whether you accepted or refused optional cookies, so we don't ask on every page. Kept for 6 months, after which we ask again.
- Form protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), on pages with a form only. Checks that a submission comes from a person, not a bot. Cloudflare says Turnstile doesn't use cookies to collect or store information; anything it does read or store is strictly for security.
Optional cookies
These are only set if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner.
- _ga (Google Analytics). Tells visits apart, so we can count visitors and see how the site is used. Kept for 2 years.
- _ga_[ID] (Google Analytics). Keeps track of your current session. Kept for 2 years.
Google Analytics loads only after you accept. If you refuse, it doesn't load at all.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also delete cookies or block them in your browser settings, though blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site from working.
