Detail A5 — Technical survey

Fix what stops Google reading your site.

Good pages can't rank if search engines can't load, read or store them. Technical SEO finds the faults under the surface, from slow pages to whole sections Google has never seen, and fixes them in order of what they're costing you.

Table A5 — Scope

What a technical audit covers.

We start with a full audit. Then we fix the problems ourselves, or write them up clearly for your developer.

A5.1Included

Crawling and indexing

Which pages Google can find, which it has stored, and why the rest are missing.

A5.2Included

Speed

How quickly your pages load and respond on a phone, measured against Google's Core Web Vitals.

A5.3Included

Mobile

Text, buttons and layouts that work on a small screen. Google judges your site on its mobile version.

A5.4Included

Site structure

A clear layout, so important pages are a few clicks from the home page and linked from related ones.

A5.5Included

Broken links and redirects

Dead pages, chains of redirects and old addresses still in use, cleaned up.

A5.6Included

Duplicate pages

Settings that tell Google which version of a page to show when several look alike.

A5.7Included

Structured data

Markup for your organisation, services, products and articles, tested for errors.

A5.8Included

Crawler access

Robots.txt, sitemaps and AI crawler settings checked, so the right bots get in and private areas stay private.

Notes — How we report it

An audit you can act on.

  1. 01Every issue is explained without jargon: what's wrong, why it matters and roughly what it's costing you.
  2. 02Issues are ranked by impact and effort, so the quick, valuable fixes come first.
  3. 03We fix them ourselves where we can, or write clear tickets for your developer.
  4. 04After each fix we check it again, so nothing gets marked as done that isn't.

General notes — FAQ

Questions about technical SEO.

Is the audit a separate project?

No, it's part of the SEO retainer. The full audit and the biggest fixes happen in the first months. After that we keep checking, because sites pick up new problems every time they change.

Do you need our developer?

Not always. On most sites we can make the fixes ourselves. Some need changes to the code, and we'll write those up clearly for whoever looks after your site, or make them ourselves if we have access.

Does it matter what our site is built on?

We can audit any site. How much we can fix directly depends on the platform, because some limit what can be changed. If the platform itself is the problem, we'll say so and explain what moving would involve.

Think something's wrong under the surface?

Tell us your website and what you've noticed: slow pages, missing pages, falling traffic. We usually reply the same working day.
