Detail A1 — Search engine optimisation

Rank on Google for the searches that bring in work.

Not every search is worth winning. We find the ones your customers use when they're ready to buy, then work every month to move your pages up for them. That means fixing the site, improving the pages and building the signals Google uses to decide who to trust.

Table A1 — Scope

What the SEO work includes.

Each month we choose from this list whatever will move you furthest, and tell you why.

A1.1Included

Keyword research

The searches your customers use, grouped by service and place, with the ones closest to a sale first.

A1.2Included

Page improvements

Titles, headings, copy and internal links on your existing pages, so each one is clearly about one thing.

A1.3Included

Missing pages

Where people search for something you offer and you have no page for it, we write one, or brief you to.

A1.4Included

Technical fixes

Speed, indexing, broken links and structured data. Bigger problems get a full Technical SEO audit.

A1.5Included

Links and mentions

Getting listed and mentioned on directories, suppliers, associations and partner sites relevant to your business.

A1.6Included

Competitor checks

What the businesses above you are doing differently, and which of it is worth doing too.

A1.7Included

Monthly report

Rankings, traffic and enquiries from Google, with next month's plan.

Notes — Why rankings stall

Why good businesses don't show up.

  1. 01Google can't read the site properly. Pages are slow, blocked or missing from its index.
  2. 02The site doesn't use the words customers search with. You say "bespoke joinery"; they type "fitted wardrobes near me".
  3. 03One page is trying to rank for everything, instead of a page for each service.
  4. 04Few other sites mention or link to the business, so Google has little reason to choose it over a competitor.
Specification — How we work

Nothing that could backfire later.

  • No bought linksPaying for links breaks Google's rules and can get a site penalised. We earn mentions instead.
  • You see the workEvery change is listed in the monthly report, with the reason we made it.
  • The big things firstWe fix the few problems that cost you the most before the long list of small ones.
General notes — FAQ

Questions about SEO.

Can you guarantee first place on Google?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Google decides rankings and changes how it does so several times a year. We can make your site the strongest candidate for the searches that matter, and show you the progress each month.

How is this different from local SEO?

Local SEO is about Google Maps and searches with a place in them, like "plumber in Leeds". This work is about your website's position in the normal results. Most local businesses need both, and we usually run them together.

Do you write the content?

Yes, if you'd like us to. We write in your voice and send every draft for your approval. If you'd rather write it yourself, we'll give you a brief for each page.

Do you need access to our website?

It's quicker if we can make changes ourselves. If your developer would rather make them, we'll send clear instructions instead.
